With the Holiday season coming around the corner, chances are you are busy planning your trip to visit family. One of your major concerns is probably about finding a way to kill time on the plane, especially on a long international flight. Obviously, your iPad or iPhone makes a great companion, allowing you to watch movies, read ebooks, listen to music, and play games.

Some flights allow Wifi after takeoff, while others may require you to enable Airplane mode with the wireless-feature off, so you can simply ask the crew if you can use it. Below you can find simple steps to enable Airplane Mode and Wifi, and most importantly, some awesome entertainment ideas for you to enjoy your iPad or iPhone on an airplane.

Using iPhone Airplane Mode and Wifi Together

iPhone Airplane Mode

Tap Settings and turn airplane mode on. You’ll notice that the wireless features are disabled automatically.

Will appear in the status bar at the top of the screen. No cell phone, radio, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth signals.

Now you can turn Wi-Fi back on and you should see WiFi icon shows up next to the Airplane Mode icon once the connected. Again, do this only if it’s allowed by the aircraft operator and applicable laws and regulations.

In-flight entertainment with your iPhone or iPad

The beauty of iPad is that it provides a variety of entertainment within a device weighing less than 1.6 pounds. You can read ebooks, watch movies, play games, or listen to music. This iOS device makes even the longest trip interesting. Just make sure you have your device fully charged and tweak some of your device’s settings to extend the battery life.
