April Fool’s Day Pranks Summary

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010 by Jenny Zeng

“Good things should be in pairs”, well, as this year’s Fool’s Day and Easter comes one after another within a week, it really shown a good thing can be paired. We here wish you have fun on Fool’s Day and a happy Easter!

What’s fun this year? Fool’s Day is being fooled by Easter firstly before any of us being fooled on that day! Due to its shrouded in the shadow of Easter Day this year, for the latter one owns greater impaction and popularity.

Surely, we do have sense of humor but it might be a little different to the rest of the world’s sense of humor, Thus, let’s have a look to see how other people spent this tricky day around the world.

French children fool their friends by taping a paper fish to their friends’ backs. When the “young fool” discovers this trick, the prankster yells “Poisson d’Avril!” (April Fish!) College students set their clocks an hour behind, so their roommates show up to the wrong class – or not at all.

Americans play small tricks on friends and strangers alike on this day. One common trick is pointing down to a friend’s shoe and saying, “Your shoelace is untied.” Teachers used to say to pupils, “Look! A flock of geese!” and point up. School children might tell a classmate that school has been canceled.

It is a very common thing in Germany to have April fools. Even the big newspaper will publish some false news which they will explain the day after. So be aware, don’t believe everything you are reading tomorrow!

You may never think that in Scotland, April Fools Day is 48 hours long. The second day is called Tally Day and is dedicated to pranks involving the buttocks.

Whatever, most April Fool jokes are in good fun and not meant to harm anyone. The cleverest April Fool joke is the one where everyone laughs, especially the person upon whom the joke is played.

“The first of April is the day we remember what we are the other 364 days of the year.” – American humorist Mark Twain said so, what do you say?
